Filippo Filicori MD

Director, IPAL

Dr. Filicori is a Board Certified Minimally Invasive Surgeon who specializes in Robotic, Laparoscopic and Endoscopic treatment of Obesity and Disorders of the Upper Gastrointestinal tract. He is an Associate Professor of Surgery at Hofstra/Northwell School of Medicine.

He chairs the AI committee at SAGES as well as 2 yearly International meetings on Innovation in Surgery. He also currently oversees Surgical Innovation for the Northwell Health system, the largest employer in New York State. He leads the Intraoperative Performance Analytics Laboratory (IPAL), a collaboration with Columbia Engineering Department which focuses on machine learning applied to large dataset outcomes research, computer vision/ AI and performance metrics in Robotic Surgery.

Dr. Filicori is the Program Director for the MIS Bariatric fellowship program at Lenox Hill Hospital where he is also the director for surgical research. He graduated Summa cum Laude at the University of Bologna before completing his Surgery Residency at Weill Cornell Medicine and a Minimally Invasive Surgical Fellowship at Portland Providence Medical Center.
